Pace of Play & Course Rules

In order to keep Hilldale enjoyable for every golfer, we ask that you abide by the following policies when playing our Regulation Course. Please arrive 20 minutes ahead of your tee time so pace of play isn't hindered by late golfers.

Keep Pace Policy

A group is expected to complete 18 holes on the Regulation Course in 4 hours and 20 minutes or less, and nine holes in 2 hours and 10 minutes or less. Foursomes started at ten-minute intervals will finish within that window if they keep pace with the group ahead.

Hilldale's Rangers will help keep play moving. If your group falls one hole behind, a Ranger will ask you to close the gap; if the gap isn't closed, you may be asked to move up or, ultimately, leave the course. A beginner who cannot reasonably keep pace may be asked to leave with a full refund — no refund or rain check is issued after two warnings.

On the Course

  • Check in at least 15 minutes before your tee time. Be warmed up and ready to play.
  • Play from the tee markers that best suit your game.
  • Hit when ready and safe to do so, and move to the next tee without delay.
  • Limit practice swings and time between nines.
  • Use a provisional ball when yours may be lost.
  • Line up your putt while others are putting, and use continuous putting when appropriate.
  • Keep up with the group ahead — stay within one shot of them.

Carts

  • No more than two riders per cart at any time.
  • Power carts must stay at least 30 feet from the greens at all times.
  • Carts are rented only to and operated only by people 16 years or older.
  • Renters agree to hold Hilldale Golf Course harmless from any claim or damage resulting from cart use.

Rain Checks & Twilight

Rain checks apply to rain only. If you've paid and teed off on the first hole but not made the turn, a credit for half the amount paid will be issued (valid one year). No rain check is issued once you've started play on the back nine.

Twilight is as many holes as you can play before sunset — that's why the rate is lower than any other time of day. No rain checks are issued for twilight play.

General

  • Trespassers, dog-walkers, bicycle riders, picnickers, ball pickers, or other unauthorized persons are not permitted on the golf premises.
  • No coolers, thermoses, or outside beverages are allowed unless purchased on the premises.
  • Play is not permitted after the course is closed by the greens superintendent or designee due to weather or maintenance.
  • Golf privileges may be revoked for false information submitted to secure golfing privileges.
